Public Access Internet
To read the Torrington Library's full Internet Policy please click here. The Torrington Library also offers free wireless Internet access for all of our patrons. You must provide your own laptop and wireless adapter. You are responsible for knowing how to configure your own equipment. The Library also does not take any responsibility for changes made to your computer. The wireless service provided is not secure and all patrons are advised to configure their laptops with the appropriate security to control access from other wireless devices and the Internet itself. For more information, pick up an informational brochure at the Main Desk. Word Processing/SpreadsheetsThe Library has two computer stations for word processing and producing spreadsheets. Software available: Microsoft Word 2003 and Microsoft Excel 2003. (We apologize, PowerPoint is not available) Users are limited to one hour if others are waiting. Printing from the word processing stations is 10 cents per page. Floppy disks are also available for purchase for saving your documents. Uploading from flash memory is permitted on our word processing stations. Copier & Fax ServicesCopies: 10 cents per page for Library materials. Fax machine (continental United States only): 50 cents per page to
send. Interlibrary LoanCan't find the book, audio book or movie you are looking for in the Torrington Library's collection? Try find it on the statewide reQuest Interlibrary Loan System. You must be a Torrington resident with a valid, up-to-date, library card to use this service.
Interlibrary Loan requests
are accepted from Torrington residents holding a current, valid Torrington
Library card.
There is a limit of four (4)
requests per patron anywhere in the Interlibrary Loan system at one time.
Lost materials will be
billed in accordance with the Lending Library’s policy.
A fee of $1.00 will be
charged for failure to pick up requested material.
An overdue fine of 10 cents
per day will be charged for overdue Interlibrary Loan materials. Microfilm Reader/PrinterMicrofilm available: New York Times 1952-2002 Tax FormsDuring tax season, the Library has many of the tax forms and instruction booklets that you may need as well as reproducible forms. Reproducible forms are 10 cents per page. All forms and instructions provided by the IRS and the CT State Dept. of Revenue Services are available free of charge. Want to print tax forms from the comfort of your own home? Try these websites: The staff of the Torrington Library cannot assist patrons in filing or filling out tax returns. Please contact the IRS or your accountant for assistance with income tax returns. |
